About me

Professional

information

Spending most of my days within the Adobe Creative Suite, in particular InDesign and Photoshop, I am always on the look out for the next great skill to add to my collection. I treat every project with the highest level of respect and always endeavor to meet deadlines with speed and accuracy, always going that extra mile for the client.

I am proficient on both Mac and PC platforms and always in and out of programs such as Photoshop, Acrobat Professional, Illustrator and Microsoft Office learning new tricks along the way, keen to progress further within my field of work.

After finishing college, working and travelling, I found myself in Cape Town, South Africa. I was presented with the excellent opportunity of an apprenticeship within an established typesetting company, specialising in both educational and legal publications with a real scope to grow within the company.

Within a very short period of time, after grasping the basics of typography and layout design, I was straight in to full-time production of many publications for some of the largest publishing houses in both Southern Africa and Europe, creating excellent long-term business relationships along the way. I quickly progressed up the ranks within the company and after a few years found myself managing the typesetting department.

A normal day for me would consist of all the usual aspects of book design and typesetting, from design conception, designing and laying out the book cover and inside page elements to attract the market audience intended, to editing, restoring and enhancing photos in Photoshop and drawing diagrams and charts in Illustrator and implementing proof reading amends. From this point, once signed-off to print, preflighting the files, then finally, exporting print ready PDFs, then liaising with the printers to ensure colour and page printing

accuracy of the final printed product.

I have spent the past 21 years gaining new experiences from each project I complete and I am always finding new ways to improve my work and feel confident to tackle any new projects that should come my way.

In 2015 I made the move back home to the UK from South Africa and have now settled in Hampshire. I have been working for various publishing houses and private clients both locally and internationally ever since.
